Suspended Google Business Profile
diagnosed and appealed.
A hard suspension removes your listing from Maps entirely, and the reviews, photos and ranking history go with it. It costs money every day it persists, which is exactly why the instinct to appeal immediately is the wrong one. An appeal filed on an unchanged profile is refused, and each refused attempt makes the next slower. The order is: diagnose, correct, document, then appeal.
Send a business name and city. You get a geo-grid scan and a written finding on what is actually wrong — before any quote, and whether or not you go ahead.
Your listing has disappeared from Maps entirely
The listing still shows but you have lost the ability to edit it
You received a suspension notice and cannot tell what triggered it
You appealed already and were refused
A competitor reported you, or you suspect they did
Every item here is something within our control. The things that are not are listed further down, in their own section, rather than left out.
Hard or soft, established first
A soft suspension leaves the listing on Maps but removes your management access. A hard suspension removes it entirely. They call for different responses, and treating one as the other wastes the first attempt — which is the attempt that matters most.
Cause identified from the evidence
Keywords in the business name, an ineligible address, an unsubstantiated category, several significant edits made at once, a duplicate listing, review manipulation, a restricted business type, or an account-level cascade from other listings you manage. We work back through what changed in the two weeks before it happened.
The violation corrected before anything is filed
The reviewer assesses the profile as it stands now. If the keyword-stuffed name is still there, the appeal fails and an attempt is gone. This step is the one that gets skipped and it is the reason most self-filed appeals are refused.
The documentation pack that decides appeals
Registration or Udyam certificate, GST certificate showing the address, a utility bill in the business name, rental or ownership document, exterior signage photographs with the street number visible, interior photographs showing the business operating, and any trade or professional licence the category requires.
One appeal, argued properly
What the business is, where it operates, how long it has operated, the likely cause, and what has been corrected — with evidence attached. Parallel appeals are treated as duplicates and slow the queue rather than accelerating it, so we file once and escalate only with new evidence.
Preventing the second one
A reinstated profile is on a shorter leash. Real-world name in the name field, material edits spaced out rather than batched, steady and never incentivised review acquisition, one profile per location, and an account structure you actually control.
- Day 1–2
Diagnosis
Suspension type established, profile state captured, edit and review history reviewed, cause identified. You get the finding in writing whether or not you proceed.
- Day 2–3
Correction
The violation fixed on the live profile — name, address configuration, category, duplicates — so the reviewer assesses a compliant listing.
- Day 3–5
Documentation and filing
Evidence pack assembled, case written, single appeal filed.
- 3–14 days
Decision
Google's review. Nothing on the profile changes during this window. One escalation with additional evidence if refused.
This section costs us work and we would rather lose it here than on a call three weeks in.
- No one can guarantee reinstatement — the decision is Google's and it is not appealable beyond their own process
- Some business types are restricted or ineligible, and where that is the cause we say so rather than taking the work
- Reviews and photos lost to a hard suspension are sometimes not restored even on a successful reinstatement
- We will not create a replacement listing to work around a suspension, because it produces a duplicate and usually a second suspension
Asked on almost every call
Including the ones where the honest answer is the less impressive one.
Three to fourteen days once the appeal is filed correctly, with the violation already corrected and documentation attached. Appeals filed on an unchanged profile are refused, and each refused attempt makes the next slower. Account-level suspensions and contested addresses can run several weeks.
- No, and anyone who does is selling something they do not control. What changes the odds materially is correct diagnosis, fixing the violation before appealing rather than after, and filing with the documentation appeals are actually decided on. That is most of the difference in outcome — but it is not a guarantee, and we would rather say so upfront.
- No. A new listing at the same address under the same account creates a duplicate, compounds the original problem and frequently gets suspended in turn. It also abandons your reviews, photos and ranking history permanently. Reinstating the existing profile is almost always the correct route.
- Reviews are usually restored with a successful reinstatement, but not always, and the longer a hard suspension persists the less certain that becomes. It is one of the reasons speed of correct diagnosis matters more than speed of appeal.
